I sell books online and the company i used made an error. They have access to my bank account and they put more money in than they shoul have. they paid the deposit twce. will they be able to take the money out of my account as well since they have access to it in a way?
Can a company with permission to make deposits in my bank account also take money out?
yes they can and do.....for that very reason.....don't try to keep it.
Reply:No. They have permission to do direct deposit, and that's it. It doesn't work the other way around.
They will probably recoup the overpayment from your next payment, unless they can convince the bank to cancel one of them
Reply:No but you still do not get to keep the money - you will have to return it
Reply:Either way, you have to return the money.
Either cut them a check, or let them take the money back electronically.
You probably already signed something giving them permission to correct mistakes by debiting your account electronically when you signed up for their direct deposits.
If you didn't sign any papers giving them permission, you will have to cut them a check.
Reply:No, they will only be able to deposit money into your account, not withdraw it out.
Reply:Only if you authorize it, but you should know if you did....
