HELP! Is this good online training for photography and editing or would I be wasting money?

Is xTrain a good online traing site for photography and photo editing. Are their certificates good for anything? I would like to know if this site worth paying for or not! Is anyone a student of theirs? This is the site!

Any help would be nice! My husband says online schooling when it comes to photography is a waste but I live in the middle of the desert and there is not any photography classes or workshops near here. Please view site and let me know what you think!

You would be much better off taking classes at your community college. For photography, someone needs to see your photographs. That would be harder with an online school.
Reply:Well I know nothing about this particular site, but tell your husband if online training were a waste of time, then books and dvd's must also be a waste of time.

I learnt most of what I know from www.kenrockwell.com and also reading photography magazines.
Reply:It appears to be a credible site and company. I say go for it!

Being that you live in the middle of nowhere where there aren't any photography schools should definitely provoke you to take online courses.
Reply:I say go for it. I looked it over and it looks decent to me.
Reply:you will learn something, a good place to start,

hubby is correct i think, nothing beats "teachers" and "structured leanring" or "schools"

many disagree but i have noticed schools and teachers are popular worldwide - esp those who want to learn well and fast - thats why we send our kids to learn at schools

Reply:i agree with your husband... online photography classes are pretty worthless. to learn about photography and to get good input on your photos it helps to take the class in person. its hard to critic a photo that has been scanned onto the internet. if thats really the only way that you can do it then you might get some good out of it (if you are a beginner). however i would recommend taking a trip to a one week (or weekend) photography workshop if you are really serious about this.
Reply:I think that you can learn alot from it and that its the best thing for you cause of where your at. Trust yourself and if you believe that you can grow from this training then go for it.

Good luck.
