I found 3 landlords online, they offer a view of they property if I proof I have money for the deposit/rent or

both by sending money trough Money Gram to a friend and scan the recipt and an ID to them. So I did and of course, I told my friend to collect it as soon as I transfered the money . Now one of the landlord phone me saying wheter I collected the money yet and how can he be sure of my identity. I said: My name is the same on the passport copy's I sent to you.

I never heard of such thing, to proved I had money with a transfer, but since I need the house I tryed but it seems those people are croocks, what do you think?

You shouldn't be sending money anywhere. No funds should exchange hands until you have viewed a property and decided whether it is suitable for you. This sounds like a scam to me and you need to be very careful. Certainly no reputable landlord would trade in this manner.
Reply:This is a highly unusual practice. It may be that they have been burned in the past by crumby tenants, but that should really not affect you. My advise? find another property to rent. If he/she is making you jump through this many hoops just to see the property, do you really want to deal with them for the next 12 months??

In my opinion, the landlords in question are either crooks, or extensively stupid. either way, leave them alone.
Reply:No offense, but it sounds more like you're trying to scam the landlords by what you are doing.

They mentioned it up front that they need proof that you can pay the rent and what you're doing is bypassing that by creating an illusion that you have the money.

Like it or not, renting an apartment is a business. If you don't have the money to pay for it, why should they rent it to you??? All you guys think of is yourselves without any thought to the person that has to pay the mortgage and fix up the damage you guys leave behind which all costs MONEY.

Couple that with some of the losers out there that move in and then squat because they really don't have money to pay for rent, you wonder why a landlord is getting more leery about renting to joe schmoes.

good luck though.
Reply:I think that's good advice-move on-next! Let them try to find another tenant. You don't need the aggravation. A landlord tenant relationship should start off comfortable and respectful! I understand that if you are using a passport they may fear that you are from out of the country and that is harder to get their money if you live there for a bit and don't pay them. Perhaps they have had bad experiences.

Here's the link for your state to the landlord tenant laws. Just in case you decide to live with the weird ones you have some ammunition down the road. I fear the way this might play out! Good Luck
